Been a loooong time!

Well, I knew it. I'm just terrible at this blogging thing. Oh well. Here is a little catch up on my life so far.

I got a job at Bluecotton! Very excited to be working again. Actually, right now I'm trying to get the word out about BC and raise our google links number, so here's a link to our site if you've never visited before: DESIGN YOUR OWN TSHIRTS

I'm about to go on a trip to Colorado with my sister and her family to go snowboarding! I'm very excited about it, although I'm really going to be more of a nanny than anything else. Oh well though- I'm still going to be able to hit the slopes and see the west!! I'm so excited. "And I stepped over the great divide between the east of my childhood, and the west of all that lay ahead." Sorry, I just have to include the random quotes.

Anyway, what's best about this trip?? Anan and Chris are treating me to this adventure!! I've got great sisters and great bro-in-laws. They all love me and want to take care of me, and even want to hang out with me-- I am very blessed!!

I'm reading the book Stolen Lives, a true story of a Moroccan princess jailed when her father tried to assassinate the king. The beauty of their culture is wonderful in so many respects, but those of us living in a democratic world have no idea how lucky we are.

That's all for now. Take care everyone and have a splendid evening.

She just vanished into a thick mist of change.

The title of this post (and also the description of this blog) is a quote from one of my favorite artist, Bright Eyes. The song is called Hot Knives. The first time I listened to the album, this line jumped out at me. I played this song over and over and over again. This is, by far, one of my most favorite quotes. It reminds me that we can always change, that we are never stuck. Our old-self can disappear and a new-self can emerge. She just vanished into a thick mist of change. I have wished so many times that I could see this actually happen. One girl walks into a fog and it swallows her up, and sometime later, maybe even a long time later, she re-emerges as someone completely changed and new. In my head, it's a beautiful picture.

I guess the reason I have latched onto this line is because of my constant desire for change. In many ways, I wish I could be that girl that gets swallowed in the fog. I don't really feel like going into the reasons for wanting that, but just think about it for yourself. If we all the chance to just disappear for a little while, where no one could see us and we didn't have to explain anything and we could change things about ourselves-- we would all come out as very different people. Hopefully, as better versions of ourselves.

Whew. Deep. (Note sarcasm.)

The past few days I have really been determined in my designing efforts to get my act together, get a stellar portfolio together and FIND. A. JOB. I've pretty much decided I'm not going to limit myself- the whole country is up for review. This girl is willing to relocate. More details on that to come (hopefully, fingers crossed, knock on wood, livin' on a prayer, etc.).

Here are a few designs I've worked on in the past. Two logos with collateral (letterhead, envelopes, business cards) and a poster. The poster is a little weird, but actually one of my favorite pieces.

Take a closer look at the world. You may be missing it.

Right now I'm reading The Time Traveler's Wife and 1 Peter. I highly recommend the later.

Now off to bed! Goodnight!!!

The times, they are a-changin'

This title is a quote from a Bob Dylan song, and now more than ever I feel these words can be applied to my life. I decided to start this blog because my life is changing, whether I'm ready for it or not. I want to write about my new experiences in this new and exciting time- who knows what adventure is next!

I have decided I want to try and include a quote in the majority of my posts. I've always enjoyed quotes, and I am constantly in search for new words of wisdom. In the spirit of talking about new experiences and new adventures, I'll leave you with one of my favorites:

Whatever you do don’t be bored. This is quite possibly the most exciting time to be born- to be alive. And the time has just begun…
